How to Style Shelves
We’ve been there. You have these beautiful decorations and books to fill up your shelves but you can never get that professionally designed, Pinterest-worthy look that you were going for. It has taken us trial and error, but we finally cracked the code on how to style shelves in a way that would give any interior designer a run for their money. Here are some tips to create this look all on your own.
Fill up space with bins
If you have a lot of smaller items that you don’t want visible on your shelves, get some cute bins! These look great on a lower shelf and give you the freedom to put whatever you want in there without worrying about how it looks!
Create complexity in the way your books are stored
You may find yourself reaching to place all of your books vertically, but don’t! Adding a few stacks of books placed horizontally creates complexity and gives it that professional look. Also, stacking a few larger books, like coffee table books, creates differences in size that are interesting to look at.
Liven up the space with plants and greenery
We love plants! They are a perfect way to add decoration to your shelves, and they are so beautiful to look at. Real plants are a major stress reliever and will help you feel more zen, but if you have trouble keeping them alive (like I do), a nice fake plant will look just as pretty on your shelf.
Add a few knickknacks to create personality
Personal touches are essential when styling any space in your home. Hannah added some shallow bowls, fun bookends, pictures, and standing decor to make her shelves feel like home, but you can do anything you want. That is the beauty of style, it is completely your own!
